The app's strength is the detailed information the scan provides, which lists each item with a description of its value based on trustworthiness. Unknown items can be identified online or ignored. The Tools menu checks five primary areas of your PC for rogue processes, services, and incorrectly installed options.

Since registry entries are involved, we wish the fixes recommended were more detailed. The program includes a quick restore point option for system safety, but repairs can't be made in the trial edition, drastically circumscribing the app's effectiveness unless you buy it sight unseen. The app's uncomplicated and straightforward usage is appreciated, but the since the main selling point has been cut off at the knees, we're hesitant to give this a more glowing recommendation.

AVG Anti-Virus 2011 Free: diệt virus mạnh mẽ và miễn phí

AVG là trình ứng dụng an ninh được cộng đồng người dùng Việt Nam sử dụng rộng rãi, nhất là phiên bản miễn phí. Vẫn nổi danh ở khả năng nhận diện virus khá tốt, dung lượng bộ nhớ chiếm dụng ít, bên cạnh Avast, Bitdefender bản miễn phí, AVG là một trong số các trình an ninh được lựa chọn hàng đầu. Đặc biệt, phiên bản AVG 2011 mới ra mắt có thêm rất nhiều cải tiến.

Giao diện chính của AVG Anti- Virus Free 2011 có chứa thông tin quảng cáo giới thiệu bản thương mại, nhưng bạn có thể ẩn thông tin này bằng cách điều chỉnh nút ở dưới cùng.

Cài đặt 5 bước

Theo CNET, AVG khẳng định phiên bản 2011 “cho tốc độ quét nhanh hơn, dễ sử dụng và khả năng xử lý cải tiến”. Thử nghiệm cho thấy, thời gian cài đặt AVG Free 2011 nhanh hơn khá nhiều, mặc dù vẫn chưa thực sự “tốc hành” như các đối thủ của AVG. Bạn sẽ mất khoảng 5 phút từ khi tải về đến lúc có thể sẵn sàng sử dụng. Một trong số các điểm mới ở phiên bản 2011 là AVG đã cắt bỏ một số bước cài đặt không cần thiết, từ 13 bước xuống còn 5 bước.

Chế độ quét thông minh

AVG Free có thêm một số tính năng bảo mật mới. Phiên bản lần này hỗ trợ chế độ quét thông minh (smart scanning), dựa vào khả năng quét, dò hành vi ứng dụng từ dữ liệu mạng của AVG để quét các tập tin an toàn, một khi quét lại phát hiện thấy có sự thay đổi, hệ thống sẽ đưa ra cảnh báo tập tin xấu. Cũng giống như sản phẩm của các đối thủ, mạng dữ liệu của AVG cũng căn cứ vào thông tin đóng góp của người dùng, đưa lên hệ thống đám mây của nhà cung cấp dịch vụ. Bạn cũng có thể đóng góp vào nguồn dữ liệu này.

Công nghệ quét thông minh cũng mang đến cho người dùng công cụ quản lý tài nguyên hệ thống, để thiết lập các chế độ quét ưu tiên. Nếu lần quét theo lịch khởi động trong lúc bạn đang sử dụng máy tính, công cụ sẽ tự động hạn chế quá trình quét này, nhằm làm giảm tình trạng chiếm dụng hệ thống, không ảnh hưởng tới các công việc khác của bạn. Khi AVG phát hiện được hệ thống đang “nhàn rỗi”, trình ứng dụng sẽ tự động lấy nhiều tài nguyên hơn để quét. Bạn cũng có thể tuỳ chọn các thông số tự động trên.

Theo khẳng định của AVG, phiên bản mới cho thời gian quét nhanh hơn gấp 3 lần so với người tiền nhiệm.

AVG không xung đột với Kaspersky đã cài sẵn trên máy, tự động cập nhật dữ liệu và không thể tắt ứng dụng khi dùng Task Manager.

Xác thực an ninh với LinkScanner

Một trong số cải tiến đáng chú ý của AVG LinkScanner. Mặc dù được tích hợp vào trình an ninh, nhưng bạn có thể tải về sử dụng riêng, cho phép quét các liên kết đăng tải trên Facebook và MySpace. Khi liên kết an toàn, LinkScanner sẽ hiển thị biểu tượng màu xanh, ngược lại màu đỏ cho biết liên kết không an toàn. Bạn quan sát sẽ thấy có cảnh báo ở dưới liên kết mà AVG đã đánh giá.

Cùng với lần ra mắt phiên bản mới, AVG cũng giới thiệu Threat Labs, địa chỉ tài nguyên web giúp người dùng tìm tra khảo thông tin về cách thức đánh giá của LinkScanner, ngoài ra, cũng giúp người dùng máy tính không trực tiếp thử nghiệm LinkScanner cũng có thể đánh giá được các liên kết từ web.

AVG thiết kế các nút thực thi tức thì với một lần nhấn chọn, trong đó có Scan sẽ quét hệ thống, nút Update để cập nhật dữ liệu, nút Fix ở phía trên cho biết hệ thống đang mất an toàn. Nếu AVG nhận định hệ thống an toàn, nút Fix sẽ không xuất hiện. AVG bản mới cũng có widget mới dành cho Windows Vista và Windows 7, cho phép người dùng quét và cập nhật dữ liệu mà không cần phải mở toàn ứng dụng.

Thống kê dung lượng RAM chiếm dụng khi thực thi quét và nhận diễn lỗi hệ thống cùng AVG -  khoảng 73 MB.

Bộ máy quét và tận diệt virus tương đương bản trả phí

Một trong những điểm cải tiến tiềm năng nhất của bản AVG Free là bộ máy nhận diện hiểm hoạ không kém gì trên phiên bản trả phí. Điều đó có nghĩa người dùng bản AVG Free không phải lo lắng trình an ninh thiếu các tính năng chuẩn, tiên tiến.

Tuỳ chọn PC Analyzer và Registry giúp người dùng giải quyết các lỗi xuất hiện khi dùng máy. AVG có thể giúp bạn giải quyết tình trạng phân mảnh của ổ đĩa, xoá các shortcut bị hỏng, tuy nhiên vẫn có một hạn chế ở bản miễn phí.

AVG Anti-Virus 2011 và AVG Internet Security 2011 là các bản trả phí của VG Anti-Virus Free 2011 cũng bắt đầu có mặt trên thị trường. AVG Internet Security có thêm tường lửa, khả năng quét các tập tin tải về, các tập tin gửi qua trình IM trên tất cả các cổng, bộ lọc thư rác. Tuỳ chọn PC Analyzer có đầy đủ các tính năng, không bị hạn chế như bản miễn phí.

Có thể nói, ngoài một số tính năng bị hạn chế, AVG Anti- Virus Free hoàn toàn có thể so sánh được với bản trả phí, nhờ khả năng phòng ngừa an ninh và tận diệt tốt các hiểm hoạ dò được. Tuy nhiên, có một điểm hạn chế của AVG là dung lượng ngày càng “phình ra”, một phần là do tích hợp LinkScanner. Bản cài đặt dành cho Windows 32 bit lên tới 135 MB.
